Spectroline

Spectroline® X-Ray Grids incorporate the purest aluminum foil for the interspacer and high quality lead foil for the X-Ray absorber. This offers lower exposure multiplier and results in better absorbtion of scatter radiation. Spectroline X-Ray Grids are manufactured by highly trained technical experts using high precision machinery, under the strictest quality control.

THREE TYPES OF LEAD STRIPS POSISTIONINGS

PARALLEL TYPE

In the use of parallel grid, no matter where the tube is located, there is never a condition under which all the strips will be aligned with the tube, since they are all vertical. Only the strips directly under the X-ray tube can be in true alignment with the primary rays. Thus there will be cut-off on the sides of the film whenever a parallel grid is used. Therefore, we generally do not make parallel grids with a ratio higher than 6:1. It is also recommended that a parallel grid not be used at any distance less than 150cm, since the lead shadows become smaller as the tube is moved away from the grid.

FOCUSED TYPE

In a focused grid, the lead strips are tilted progressively as they move away from center. The dotted lines drawn through each of these strips converge at a point somewhere above the grid; this point is known as the grid focus. This is where the X-ray tube should be located for perfect alignment of the primary ray with each of the strips.

CRISS-CROSS TYPE

A crossed grid is acutally two grids, one above the other, with the lead strips of one perpendicular to the other. When enclosed in a cover, these two grids become a crossed grid.

Grid SizesVARIOUS SIZES

Grid sizes correspond to available film sizes. The grids are shipped one inch larger in each dimension, except for the standard Bucky size 17 1/4" X 18 7/8". Grid sizes are available in any inch size and metric size.

Various Ratios for X-Ray GridsVARIOUS RATIOS

Grid ratio is the height of its lead strip compared to the space between strips. Spectroline grids are available with ratios ranging from 5:1 to 12:1.

FOCAL RANGE

Short, Medium and Long... covering tube to film distance from 28" to infinity. In the case of the 8:1 ratio grid, it has been made with a true focus of 38", and can be used satisfactorily from 34" to 44". With lower ratio grids the focal range is considerably wider; with higher ratio grids it is considerably narrower. In the case of the 12:1 ratio grid, it would have a range of only 36" to 40".

DENSITY

Spectroline grids are available in three density types:
85 lines/inch (34 lines/cm), 103 lines/inch (40 lines/cm) and 150 lines/inch (59 lines/cm).
