Versatile Ultrasonic Diagnostic Tool “Hears” Problems Before They Lead to Breakdowns in Aviation Systems

Spectronics Corporation has its pulse on the latest and most advanced leak detection solutions in the aviation industry, and the Spectroline® MDE-2000NC Marksman™II ultrasonic diagnostic tool is one such notable achievement.

When pressurized leaks and component wear and other defects are in their early stages, they create a friction only heard in the ultrasonic range. The Marksman II converts and amplifies inaudible ultrasonic sound into audible “natural” sound. This highly advanced tool allows the aircraft technician to “hear” even the smallest brake, vacuum, tire, and other pressurized leaks…before they lead to major breakdowns. The contact probe pinpoints wear or damage to gears, bearings and other internal components…without disassembly.

The tool uses a two-tiered approach to ensure accurate diagnosis. The receiver converts inaudible ultrasonic sound into audible sound using heterodyne circuitry. Then, its unique Sound Signature Technology fine tunes the audible sound into the natural sound emitted by the leak itself. A 5-LED signal intensity indicator and audible alarm locates the exact source of the problem. An Internal Noise Control (INC) feature safeguards against ambient noise and the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) circuitry automatically adjusts to optimize signal sensitivity during every inspection.

The Marksman II comes complete with an ultrasonic receiver, full-sized, heavy duty, noise-canceling headphones, a hollow air probe, a solid contact probe and an ultrasonic emitter that helps locate faulty seals, gaskets and weatherstripping in doors, windows, trunks and other non-pressurized enclosures. Jon Cooper, President of Spectronics Corporation had the honor of attending a White House briefing on international trade policy in Washington, DC. yesterday afternoon. He spent several hours meeting with numerous administration officials, including the Secretary of Commerce, the Director of the White House's National Economic Council, the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs in the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration.

These officials provided detailed information about a broad range of programs and services that are now available to assist small and medium size businesses. The goal of the federal government is to provide export assistance in order to help grow sales in overseas markets. Spectronics Corporation has announced the promotion of Debra Hammond to Global Customer Service Manager.

Debbie started her career at Spectronics more than 20 years ago as an International Customer Service Specialist, eventually moving on to Department Manager in 1998. Her positive, “can-do” attitude and outstanding work ethic made her a perfect choice for the Global Customer Service Manager position.

In her new role, Debbie will be responsible for streamlining the daily work flow of both the International and Domestic customer service departments, which in the future will be referred to as the Global Customer Service Department. “My primary focus will be to continue to maintain, nurture and strengthen the customer relationships our sales team creates worldwide. These relationships are critical, since our customers will continually come back to us when their needs are satisfactorily addressed,” says Debbie.

Spectronics Corporation has announced the promotion of Daniel Chusid to Technical Sales & Regulatory Compliance Specialist.

Dan joined Spectronics eight years ago as a Sales Administrator. He has also held the positions of International Customer Service Specialist and Technical Sales Specialist.

In his new role, Dan will be responsible for maintaining legal and regulatory compliance for the company. He will also provide direction to affected business areas regarding changes in operation required for compliance. Dan has expertise on current standards, industry best practices, regulatory requirements and company policies. In addition to his regulatory compliance duties, he will also respond to technical application inquiries from sales representatives, distributors and end-users.

Dan holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany and a Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law. His law background and extensive product knowledge combine to make him a perfect candidate for the position of Technical Sales & Regulatory Compliance Specialist.

Spectronics Corporation Appoints Daniel Tristan as International Sales Manager

Spectronics Corporation has announced the appointment of Daniel Tristan as its International Sales Manager for the Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions.

Before joining the company, Daniel was Director of Sales & Marketing at Dreyfus Global Trade, an export management company serving the automotive, heavy duty and industrial markets.

In his new role, Daniel’s responsibilities will be to support and increase sales by managing Spectronics’ existing distribution networks in these territories. He will also be instrumental in developing business by identifying new markets and establishing additional distributors where needed.

Daniel earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Economics and Spanish from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

“I am looking forward to hitting the road, growing existing distribution, and opening untapped markets in Latin America and Asia,” says Daniel.
