Keeping pace with today’s
high technology
Spectronics
Corporation believes that the timely application and refinement of advanced
technologies can dramatically improve product performance. The Spectroline
PC-4420A, PC-8820B and PC-9920A systems represent over 45 years of ultraviolet
expertise, including nearly three decades dedicated to intensive research
and development in UV EPROM/wafer erasing technology. As a result, our
engineers have succeeded in designing a new generation of UV erasers which
maximize productivity by incorporating features that set the highest standards
of performance.
Features:
Advanced UV Lamp Design
New, ultra-high intensity grid lamps are produced in our modern, 100,000
square foot manufacturing facility to meet the finest design and performance
specifications.
Operating
intensity is at least 60% greater than competitive systems
- Unmatched irradiance uniformity assures fast and complete erasure
of every EPROM or wafer
- Higher UV intensity and greater irradiance uniformity mean superior
throughput
Increased Load Capacity
Drawer dimensions are ideal for maximized load capacity of individual
EPROMs, wafers and PC
boards. The drawer accommodates a variety of loading formats.
- Deeper drawer permits loading of PC boards and metric cards
- Wider drawer allows loading of open-face stocking tubes
- Heavy-duty slides permit drawer to open fully for greater access to
loading area
Innovative Features
- Exclusive quick load/unload trays facilitate safe handling, ensure
proper positioning, and allow
pre-loading of EPROMs, PC boards, metric cards and wafers (see below)
- Digital timer is presettable to minimize operator error and provide
automatic shut-off
- Two-piece, modular design simplifies maintenance and assures safe
handling
- Safety interlock prevents accidental exposure to hazardous short wave
(254nm) UV radiation

Conductive foam trays (above, left) are optional with each unit
to protect valuable devices from electrostatic build-up. Optional
wafer-handling trays (above, right) are available at an additional
cost.

Reengineered
PC-8820B — Ultra-high UV intensity, 2½ minute erasing time!
- Improved cooling system to dramatically extend the life of grid lamps
- Ultra-high UV (254nm) intensity—average initial intensity of
70,000 µW/cm2 — produces up to
four times the throughput of competitive systems
- Redesigned interior provides better air flow and uniform UV output
- New temperature gauge for better acclimatization to cabinet’s
surroundings
- Special hood attachment with improved air exhaust/UV shield
- Manual fan speed control for automatic unit stabilization according
to the room temperature

‡ Because of the relatively high current requirements
of the PC-8820B, a 220V/60Hz version is supplied for use in areas where
120V/60Hz might ordinarily have been used. For the same reason, a 200V/50-60Hz
version is supplied for use in areas where 100V/50-60Hz might ordinarily
have been used.
